Relaxing Floral Infusion

Camomile or Chamomile tea, Matricaria chamomilla (German Chamomile), is a delicate and aromatic herbal infusion made from the daisy-like flowers of the chamomile plant. Native to Europe and Western Asia, chamomile has been cherished for centuries for its soothing properties and gentle floral character. The name chamomile originates from the Greek words "chamai," meaning ground, and "melon," meaning apple, referring to the plant's distinctive sweet, apple-like fragrance. For the same reason,  chamomile is known as manzanilla, in Spanish, meaning "little apple,"

The small, golden-yellow flower heads, surrounded by delicate white petals, are carefully harvested when in full bloom to preserve their natural aroma and beneficial properties. Once harvested, the flowers are gently dried to retain their essential oils and delicate flavour. Upon brewing, chamomile yields a beautiful golden-yellow caffeine free infusion with soft floral notes, subtle hints of apple and honey, and a naturally smooth, mellow sweetness.

Chamomile has traditionally been used as a medicinal herb to promote relaxation, support restful sleep and soothe digestive discomfort. Its naturally occurring compounds, including apigenin and other flavonoids, have been studied for their potential calming, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Although chamomile has a long history of traditional use, further clinical research is needed to establish its effectiveness for specific health conditions.

Pregnant women are advised to avoid chamomile tea, as its safety during pregnancy has not been established and there are concerns about potential effects on uterine contractions. Chamomile may also cause allergic reactions in individuals sensitive to plants in the daisy family, particularly ragweed. Those taking blood-thinning medications should consult a healthcare professional before consuming chamomile tea due to potential interactions.
