How to Add Tea to Your Daily Routine

Staying healthy is more important than ever. Even the smallest of choices can have the biggest impact on our wellness. This is true of little habits we practise every day. For example, making your daily cup of tea.

We have several ideas on how you can incorporate tea in your routine for a healthier lifestyle. We’ll also be sure to answer some frequently asked questions on the best practices of drinking tea.

How to make tea?

The classic way of making tea is quite simple. Bring water to boil, and pour some into a mug. Then add loose leaf or teabags of your choice and allow it to steep. After just a few minutes, depending on the blend, you can enjoy your tea.

Is it good to drink tea every morning?

It can be quite beneficial to start your morning with a cup of tea. The process of making and savouring the tea in itself  can be used as a  mindfulness ritual, giving yourself the space to enjoy a quiet moment before the day begins. Try to challenge yourself to do this even before using any form of technology.

If you’re an avid coffee drinker who consumes a little too much caffeine, you may want to consider switching to tea. An easy way to transition could be with our Coffee Truffle Black loose leaf tea. It has decreased levels of caffeine, is sugar free, and is a  winner of a Great Taste Award!

If you still require larger amounts of caffeine to wake you up, you could try our Matcha either as a tea with water or a latte with milk. You will notice caffeine from Matcha is absorbed more slowly than that of coffee, so it can provide a longer-lasting energy boost with none of the caffeine crash. Matcha also has more health benefits and less side effects than coffee.

Using tea for beauty or spa treatments

After your morning tea you might be wondering, what’s next? If you really want to treat yourself, consider making your own matcha mask. You can do this by mixing 1 teaspoon of our Matcha Silver, 1 teaspoon of raw honey, and 1 teaspoon of raw yoghurt together. Stir this into a thick paste and apply it to your skin for 15 minutes before removal.

Another option is to choose one of our wellness blends to infuse your bath. You might choose our Beauty tea or our Detox tea. Simply add these blends into a homemade sachet, a washcloth secured with a rubber band, and let them soak in your bath. Allow the scents of rosemary and lavender, or cinnamon and apple work their magic as you let your stresses melt away.

Spearmint is another tea that can help in skincare for acne sufferers as studies have proved that drinking two cups of spearmint tea a day can help reduce inflammatory acne lesions by 25% after one month and by 51% after three months.

An afternoon digestive

One of the many benefits of tea is that it can aid in digestion. After any meal, your body will start to break down food into nutrients and absorb it. This process can be strained for a number of reasons. We have a Digest blend specifically designed to handle many ailments. With natural muscle relaxants, prebiotic herbs, dietary fibre, and a healthy gut stimulant, this tea will make you and your stomach happy. It might be wise after a large luncheon to take a rest after, and sip on this beneficial tea. Peppermint tea with its refreshing and minty flavour can also be enjoyed for its soothing and digestive properties.

However if it is traditional tea you are after to fight off tiredness during that mid afternoon energy lag, nothing can beat our finest Darjeeling Muscatel or Assam Gold.

Does tea have caffeine in it?

Not all tea has caffeine. The Sleep Foundation recommends avoiding caffeine at least eight hours before bedtime. You can check out our Caffeine free tea/blends to find teas to help you relax and unwind as you prepare for your upcoming relaxation time after a hard day’s work.

Preparing to rest

As you unwind in the evening, ready yourself for a good night’s sleep. This is when your body repairs itself, it strengthens your immune system, and regulates your metabolism. Sleep helps us maintain our energy levels and mental focus.

We’ve all experienced restless nights. To prevent this, try our Sleep tea, a therapeutic blend designed to help you relax and get a restful sleep. Even sipping on the tea gently while inhaling the aromatic rose perfumed tea before sleep will create another ritual that informs your body and mind it’s time to relax…
