Caffeine free detoxifying Herbal Infusion
Nettle tea, made from the leaves of the stinging nettle plant (Urtica dioica), is a nutrient-packed herbal infusion celebrated for its detoxifying and anti-inflammatory properties. Interestingly, nettles are among the first greens to appear in spring, often called a “superfood weed,”.
Once steeped, the leaves release a mild cloudy-green infusion with earthy flavour and grassy undertones. Nettle can be enjoyed either as a hot infusion or cooled down to make an earthy iced tea.
- It can be blended with other teas/ingredients like Peppermint, Spearmint or Red rose petals to make exciting blends.
- It can be used to make cordials, “nettle-ade” or used as an ingredient to make wines or gin.
- Nettle can also be used in smoothies, soups or juice to boost nutrition after grinding into a powder
- Can also be used as a seasoning once powdered and mixed with garlic and other herbs.
Nettle tea is known for reducing inflammation and easing joint pain, thanks to plant compounds like quercetin that act as antioxidants. Traditionally used for arthritis, allergies, and urinary issues, nettle tea also supports kidney and prostate health and may help balance blood sugar levels. It’s full of vitamins A, C, and K, plus minerals like iron and calcium, which help boost energy and immunity. While most research is on nettle extracts rather than tea, it’s still a gentle, natural way to support overall wellbeing.
