Natural Caffeine-Free Herbal Infusion

Jiaogulan, Gynostemma sp. (also known as Immortality tea) is a vine from the cucumber and melon family that grows in South and East Asia. It became famous as  "immortality tea" due to a report from the 1970s  which showed the popularity of the tea among inhabitants around the Fanjing Mountain region of the Guizhou province. These people were said to have a longer than normal lifespan.

Once harvested, the herb is cut, heat treated and dried. Upon brewing, the whole leaf tea yields a refreshing light yellow caffeine-free infusion with vegetal notes and sweetish bitter taste. The sweetish taste is enhanced and the bitterish taste is alleviated with each successive infusion.

  • Jiaogulan (Gynostemma) is known to be a powerful adaptogen
  • Limited clinical studies have also been conducted to support therapeutic applications such as a role in the management of type 2 diabetes, obesity, fatty liver disease and immune response (such as asthma)

Ingredients

Pure Jiaogulan (Gynostemma sp)

How to enjoy this tea

Steep 1 tsp (1.5g) per cup for 3-5 mins in 80-90° C water. Use some of the water to first wash the tea leaves once briefly to activate the Jiaogulan. Multiple infusions are strongly recommended. Successive infusions are smooth and delicious.

  • Jiaogulan can be enjoyed either as a hot infusion or cooled down to make an iced tea.
  • It can be had either plain or with lemon or honey.
  • Can be blended with some of our other infusion/ingredients like Peppermint, Spearmint or Tulsi to make a delicious cup of tea.

Love this!

I love this tea. I now drink it most days. I find it refreshing and am pleased that it is an adaptogen. I usually re brew 2 or 3 times, and each time it is different but still good.

After waiting 10 days for my parcel, I just have enough of waiting. Obviously, I contacted tea people customer service to be told to wait longer - to the end of week. Which one? The last week of the year most probably.... I have ordered tea from amazon in the morning today and I am already drinking it....
