Blue Butterfly Pea Flowers - Loose Herbal Tea
These gorgeous Great Taste Award winning blue flowers are grown in Thailand and are full of antioxidants (anthocyanin). Adding a few drops of lime juice to the tisane will turn the blue into a beautiful purple.
Here's what the Great Taste judges said about this tea:
"Very attractive flowers which have been very well prepared to maximise the quality when dried. Stunning colour is produced from the flowers with a fabulous fresh aroma of peas. The flavour is delicate but full of fresh pea and sweet malty characteristics giving a delightful, well rounded infusion.
The flowers and leaves really are striking and rather beautiful - making for a gorgeous dry mix. Once infused the colour is astounding. The nose reminds us of buttered potatoes. The flavour is clean, vegetal and earthy - peas, beans and brassicas. This is a delicate infusion but we feel it could do with just a spot more zest to lift the palate.
We detected pleasing notes of brassica on the nose and an earthiness, and thought it very attractive with its striking colour."
